Tradition Meets modern Flair

Enjoying Wine in Heilbronn

The Heilbronn region is the center of winegrowing in Württemberg. Wine has been grown here since the year 766. An impressive history that has earned Heilbronn the title of "oldest wine town in Württemberg". Whether it's a sundowner on Mount Wartberg or Swabian tapas at the Neckar Promenade, here you can experience the regional wine culture in all its facets.

Heilbronn — the Center of Württemberg's Viticulture

Heilbronn is a wine lover's paradise. With over 30 wineries in the city alone, Heilbronn has an impressive density of wineries. Some of the best wines in the region thrive here. This is made possible by the mild climate, fertile soil, and location between the slopes of the Neckar River.

The Heilbronn Country Region has become a true flagship of Württemberg winegrowing. Trollinger and Lemberger wines are particularly popular, as they are full of character and impress with their fruitiness and lightness. But white varieties like Riesling also thrive on the steep slopes of the Neckar Valley. Here you will find uncomplicated summer wines as well as fine wines for special occasions.

Wine Experiences: Offers for the Evening

In Heilbronn, there are plenty of ways to end the day in style. One of the most popular is a sundowner on Mount Wartberg. From here, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the city and the surrounding vineyards as the sun sets. You can also sample local wines on the spot. At the Martin-Heinrich-Wengerthäusle, a small house in the vineyards, different winegrowers serve their best wines. An experience not only for wine lovers.

Another highlight is the terrace of the Wein-Villa Pavilion at the Neckar promenade. During the summer months, Heilbronn winegrowers serve their wines here every day (except Mondays). They are accompanied by Swabian tapas. These are regional dishes served in small, handy portions that go perfectly with a glass of wine. Typical examples include lentils with mini noodles, fried Maultaschen or pretzel chips with Luckeleskäs, a local cheese.

Heilbronn is the perfect place to end the day with a glass of wine in hand and a view of the twinkling stars. The traditional wine town and the modern world of knowledge at the experimenta Science Center create a unique combination that makes Heilbronn a true paradise for connoisseurs. Here, the pleasures of wine and the fascination of the universe merge into a harmonious whole.
