Hiking in Baden-Württemberg

Our hiking tour takes us along a lush green wildflower meadow, still glistening with morning dew. Only our footsteps and the soft chirping of crickets can be heard.

A young couple is energetically climbing a steep forest path made of rough boulders. The autumn leaves rustle under their feet with every step.

Who has ever seen ferns up close? In ancient times, its feathery fronds were associated with luck, protection and prosperity. Again and again, fallen, moss-covered trees catch our eye. Birdsong can be heard. A salamander has ventured out of its cover. A spider has spun its web under a wood sorrel on the forest floor and is waiting for prey. The snail on the tree trunk, however, is not interested. Such animal encounters and the mystical landscape when the fog clears are often shared on social media.

We take a bird's eye view of places nature lovers long for: a remote lake in the Black Forest, massive rock formations in the Swabian Alb or a rushing waterfall.

Camping fans have made themselves comfortable on Lake Constance. They enjoy the sunset in the midst of untouched nature on the shore, surrounded by the gentle twittering of birds and the chirping of crickets.

The young couple from the opening scene walk through the autumn forest, laughing. The young woman runs her hands along the rocks and trunks and feels the gentle force of nature. A chime plays in the background as the sun breaks through the forest. A moment to calm down and switch off.

We watch from above as a man crosses a body of water over a suspension bridge. The bridge wobbles and creaks, but he is undeterred and continues on to the other bank. Every path is a discovery.

We pan across Lake Mummelsee in the Black Forest and Hohenzollern Castle in the Swabian Alb. Soft music plays as the couple stand on a rocky outcrop, gazing together at an autumnal forest at their feet.

Away from the well-known long-distance walking routes, Baden-Württemberg offers numerous less-crowded trails, such as the Bühlertal Circular Hiking Trail in Hohenlohe. Smaller nature parks outside the Black Forest also attract visitors with their peaceful paths and unspoilt countryside.
