Natural Bathing Lake in Upper Swabia

Swimming Fun at the Obersee Lido

Water is usually a child's favourite element. It doesn't take much to get them excited about it. So we drive to Kisslegg and park at the romantic castle gardens. From there, it's just a short walk to the lido at Obersee. The picturesque natural bathing lake has been the epitome of a perfect day's swimming for us ever since. We chill out under the big old trees while the children frolic in the water of the moorland lake. They do somersaults from the diving platform, fight with the water octopus and laugh their hearts out. The little ones splash around in the sand and mud area under the awnings. Sun-seekers can hire a pedalo or rowing boat. At the end of a wonderful day's holiday, we are all one thing: happy and full of wonderful memories.
By the way: In Upper Swabia there are many bathing lakes in beautiful natural landscapes. Out of respect for nature, we take everything we have brought back with us for a great day of swimming.

Belongs to the Summer
The lido at Kißlegger Obersee is as much a part of summer as the flavour of ice cream or the smell of sun cream.

Explore the Rems Valley From the Water

Wild and Romantic Canoe Trip on the Rems

The Rems has its source at the foot of the Swabian Alb and flows into the Neckar near Ludwigsburg. There is a canoe and SUP station in Weinstadt-Endersbach that is just waiting to be discovered by you. Since 2019, you can paddle along a continuous canoe route all the way to Waiblingen - a whole five kilometres of adventure! Before you set off, here are a few tips: Noise not only annoys others, but also the animals. And leftovers? We take them home with us. Sure, right? Then we start at the Birkel weir in Weinstadt-Endersbach. We glide gently downstream on the water. The charming riverside landscape passes us by - or is it the other way round? We enjoy the beauty of the river valley and the peace and quiet. Every now and then we have to carry the canoe round a few weirs. At a romantic resting place, we fortify ourselves with a small picnic. We then paddle on at a leisurely pace. After about 2-3 hours we reach Waiblingen. The exit is in the centre of the town. We return the canoe here.

Insider Tip:

The organisers will also bring your own bike on their boat trailers to the disembarkation point. So you can cycle back in comfort. However, this should be arranged in advance.

Bathing Lakes in the Black Forest

Refreshing Baths in Nature

The Black Forest is also a popular holiday destination in summer. It's not just hikers and cyclists who get their money's worth here. The region around the Black Forest is also home to a whole range of beautiful bathing lakes. So it's not far to swimming fun. And let's be honest, what could be better than jumping into the cool water on a hot summer's day?

That's exactly what we thought and set off for the Schluchsee. Not only is it the largest lake in the Black Forest, it is also one of the cleanest bathing lakes in Germany. Water rats get their money's worth here. Diving, surfing, sailing, fishing or simply relaxing - everything is possible here. An 18-kilometre circular path runs along the lakeshore. So you can find a quiet spot even on busy days. Nothing stands in the way of a dip in the refreshing water.

Insider Tip:

Lake Titisee is not far from Schluchsee. It is the most famous Black Forest lake. There is a lido with a large sunbathing lawn and small restaurants and cafés invite you to linger. The Windgefällweiher offers more peace and relaxation. The Waldsee was originally a moorland lake, but today there is also a lido with a sunbathing area.

Sailing Area Also for Beginners

There is a large selection of sailing schools on Lake Constance. That's why it's also an ideal sailing area for beginners. We are patiently explained what is important when sailing. How do you set the sails? How do I tack? How do I find the wind? By the third time we're already doing surprisingly well. By the fifth time, we newbies look almost experienced. We glide leisurely and almost silently across the calm lake. On the water, the stress of everyday life immediately falls away. But Lake Constance is not just perfect for learning. It also remains exciting for experts, as the wind and weather often change very quickly. The lake is also simply full of variety. There are many beautiful harbors and towns. And the natural scenery is simply breathtaking.

Water Park in the Ortenau Region

Rulantica - The Indoor Water World at Europa-Park

The adventure pool in Rust promises water fun whatever the weather. That's why we take advantage of a break in the rain to visit the large indoor water world. Rulantica is a fictitious island in the Arctic Ocean with many attractions. And we are indeed surrounded by an impressive atmosphere. The mixture of Scandinavian style, Nordic landscape and imaginative design harmonises perfectly. Mystical scenery promises an unforgettable experience. We wander through the nine themed areas and see lots of fantasy creatures. In ‘Vinterhal’, we bravely venture onto the jump slide. At the end, we free fall from a height of 1.5 metres into the water. Definitely not for the faint-hearted. On the other hand, one of the bubble loungers in the 30-degree water offers relaxation. The outdoor area also has plenty to offer, such as a raging torrent. Action fans can let themselves drift through its heated riverbed. However, as the Baden sun has fought its way through the clouds, we opt for a deckchair and enjoy ourselves.

By The Way:

Rulantica is a spectacular experience for the whole family! Just imagine: A huge water park with exciting slides, splashing wave pools and relaxing lagoons. For the little ones, there are lovingly designed areas where they can splash and play to their heart's content.

Water Rafting in the Murg Valley

Wild on the Water With the Inflatable Boat

In the middle of the Black Forest, the Murg still flows in its original riverbed. Perfect for abseiling, hiking and soft rafting with the whole family. Our rafting tour starts in Forbach. Equipped with life jackets, helmets and paddles, we stand at the entry point. The water is calm, the river wide. But after a few meters it narrows and picks up speed. Small rapids form. The instructions are actually clear. But as soon as we sit in the dinghy, everything is forgotten. We paddle wildly and get stranded on large rocks. The fun factor is right. After a quarter of a kilometer, we head for the shore and carry the boat back to the entry point. We can paddle for as long as we have energy and fun. And we have plenty of it.
